Sam was flooded with honors during his playing career. Recognized as among the most celebrated West Virginia University athletes, Huff was named All-NFL three times, picked as the NFL's top linebacker in 1959 and selected for five Pro Bowls. In 1982, he was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame. Sam Huff died on November 13, 1981 at the age of 87.
