Vintage 14.5mm Shell Cordovan American 1940s watch band real horse leather NOS

Description: If you like tropical dials, old worn leather and real vintage watch straps, then this one is for you. In the difficult 14.5mm lugs width to fit those early 1930s-50s watches. Uniquely stitched at the ends, this old stock vintage watch band is made from rare Shell Cordovan horse leather a very difficult type to source, from the 1940s. With its original steel buckle. Marked on the back "Shell Cordovan Hand Beveled Edge." Fully stitched ends. Short Length strap is about 1/4 to 1/2 inch shorter than a standard length band. It measures 7 inches (17.8cm) placed end to end, not including the buckle. Metric measurements of the two pieces are 108/70mm. Flat unpadded strap that won't detract from a fine watch but has strong thickness due to the horse leather hide. Band is 3.3mm thick where it meets the watch and 2.0mm through the body of the band. You can request a gold-tone buckle instead that will be a different style. Shell Cordovan is the term used for a very special leather made from a horse's rump. A horse provides two "shells," or circular sheets of leather. This rare material, also used for shoes and belts, is famous for its pliability and durability, as well as for the wonderful patina it develops over time. Although considerably more costly than other leathers, Shell Cordovan is an excellent investment and is long-lasting. This is a consummate American-Made early watch band.
