Uniquely stitched at the ends, this 16mm vintage watch band is made from rare Shell Cordovan horse leather a very difficult type to source, discovered as New Old Stock from the 1940s/50s. Has some dark marks as shown in the close-up picture. With a steel buckle. Completely unsigned. Shell Cordovan is the term used for a very special leather made from a horse's rump. A horse provides two "shells," or circular sheets of leather. This rare material, also used for shoes and belts, is famous for its pliability and durability, as well as for the wonderful patina it develops over time. Although considerably more costly than other leathers, Shell Cordovan is an excellent investment and is long-lasting. This is a consummate American-Made early watch band. The smooth, high-grade finish and unique stitching of a Shell Cordovan band gives your vintage watch a special look. One that can't be matched with newly made bands. Standard length strap measures 7 1/4 inches (18.3cm) placed end to end, not including the buckle. Metric measurements of the two pieces are 110/73mm. Flat unpadded strap that won't detract from a fine watch. Band is 5.8mm thick where it meets the watch and 2.2mm through the body of the band. You can request a gold-tone buckle instead that will be a different style.
