Description: Description: This is the rare Macmillan (2nd printing over-all of 'This is Rome') 1963 edition. The majority of the printings you will see were either republished in 2007 and later or published by Universe or W. H. Allen. This edition is very difficult to find in this condition and with the original dust cover with 'The Macmillan Company' showing on the spine, of both the book and the dust jacket. The other way to identify this edition is on the title page. Under the cat on the monument it will say 'Macmillan Company - New York'. Printed in Italy by FabriStampa. Condition: This book is in immaculate shape. Pages are very clean without any writing in interior. Sharp corners throughout and vibrant colors. The dust cover, as expected, is chipped at corners and edges but pretty much complete as shown, including spine area, however the inside corner of one side is clipped. This is not an ex-library book, it does not have any remnants of a book available to the public, which means there are no labels, stickers, library card pockets, marker notations, shelf location, or the like, or even pencil marks. Dust cover has been covered carefully with a clean dust jacket protector to guard its cleanliness and superb condition. About The Author And The Series: This Is... is a series of children's travel books written and illustrated by Czech author Miroslav Sasek between 1959 (1958) and 1974. Sasek originally intended to write three books (This Is Paris, This Is London and This Is Rome); however, as a result of those titles' popularity, Sasek ultimately extended the series to 18 books. Four of the This Is books were adapted into movie shorts by Weston Woods in the early 1960s: This Is New York, This Is Venice, This Is Israel and This Is Ireland. The This Is series went out of print. In 2003, publisher Rizzoli began reissuing some of the titles, although not in the original publication order. In these books, outdated facts were updated at the back of the book but the original artwork was preserved.
