Vintage 1970-1980s NEW EXCELLENT KNOX Brown Fedora Sz 7-3/8 Stetson

Description: Excellent Near Pristine! Vintage - 1970s-1980s - DOBBS - Chestnut Brown Fedora - size 7-/8. This is a great everyday fedora! So Dad and I are both stumped! We are having a hard time dating this great fedora! There is NO plastic headliner (that would date this to the early 1940s?, we are 100% certain this is after 1970!) and that Knox logo appears to be from the 1970s. If anyone out there can help please write to us giving us some explanation. Please just don’t say the date, please give some reasons why you believe the dating is ???. Thank you. It is shaped into a fedora. It’s a real looker! Dad and grandson needed to do very little work on this one, just a bit of cleaning and minor steaming to get the shape back to the original shape. This was the second fedora that was found inside a 1950s Knox oval hat box. That Knox hat box is listed with the other Knox fedora currently.This is a great everyday hat! Currently it is shaped as a Center Dent and pinched crown.As you can see the leather sweatband is still in excellent NEW condition, there is no wear to the top edge (hat reed) and the sewn joint is perfect! If this was worn it was only worn less than a handful of times and stored away.There are NO Moth Bites or Stains anywhere on this fedora!This is a medium Chestnut Brown color and the picture of the whole underside is the best representation of the color. It is not exactly the same but the closest one that there is. It’s a slightly lighter shade of brown than that picture by about 2 shades of brown lighter. Not sure why we can’t get the color to always come out consistently? Anybody out there has any suggestions? So both Dad and I are having a difficult time identifying the material this is made from? When we initially were touching the hat we thought it was made from Rabbit? It’s just very very soft and pliable. If you blow up the pictures you can see what appears to be Rabbit type fibers. Then someone wrote to us thinking it maybe wool? We don’t think it is but we just aren’t 100% certain? While we were steam shaping Dad asked me to help him steam shape it so I could feel the material while it’s was being steamed. So both Dad and I we can better determine the quality and type of material it is while steam shaping it by how it feels. This did NOT a feel like wool when we were steaming it but much more like Rabbit, very similar to the 1960 Borsalino Hare ( English Rabbit) fedora that we worked on last week. This is a very nice quality hat that could be an everyday hat. We believe whoever buys this fedora will love the very soft feel to it. Just a OUTSTANDING classic fedora.The size is a perfect 7-3/8.
