Vintage baby knit snowsuit, pink, 18 months, elephant detail, winter baby

Description: This item is a beautiful knit snowsuit in a muted pink knit for a baby or toddler girl, comparing in size to a modern 18 months. It is a mystery to me: beautiful work that seems of professional quality, but it has no trace of a label. Can this pretty suit be handmade? It consists of a knit jacket, leggings with elastic straps to cover shoes, and a pretty knit cap with a button strap. The jacket is slightly flared with pearl buttons to one side for closure. It has a pointed collar with a snap at the neck. It features a pretty white elephant worked into the knit. The pants have a completely removable drawstring at the waist, no elastic. The bottoms flare out to cover little shoes or boots and they have elastic straps to go around the shoes. The cap is beautiful, knit in a circular pattern on each side with a strap that closes with a pearl button. CONDITION The jacket is very clean and has all of the buttons. The only flaw is a dropped stitch at one shoulder as shown. This can be easily mended. The pants are in excellent shape except for the shoe coverings. As shown in the photos, they are dirty from wear and one has come loose on one side. These can be replaced or removed. The cap is in excellent condition. It seems to me that it is one tiny shade brighter than the other 2 pieces.It Maya be a different dye lot of yarn, or someone may have tried to wash the suit and not the cap. MEASUREMENTS Please review measurements carefully. For comparison sake, this set seems close to a modern 18 months. JACKET: shoulders: 20" around chest: 20" around length: 11" PANTS: Waist: will stretch up to 22" around, drawstring can tighten it to any smaller waist size length, waist to saddle: 8" leg length: 18" ( remember that these are designed to cover shoes) The knit is a heavyweight wool or acrylic.
