Description: Vintage Deruta of Italy creamer / pitcher. Sunny yellows and rosey pinks pop off this gorgeous diminutive Italian pottery pitcher. This Deruta pitcher/creamer takes the form of a happy open mouth rooster/chicken. Deruta, a medieval hilltown in Umbria, Italy, is mainly known as a major center for the production of maiolica (painted tin-glazed earthenware) in the Renaissance and later. Production of pottery is documented in the early Middle Ages. This pitcher is hand painted and signed on the bottom. This tiny deruta chicken pitcher measures approximately 3.5” tall x 3” wide. Very good vintage condition with very minimal wear. No chips, cracks or crazing.
