The back and outside edges of the brooch have a gold wash; they test positive for 10K gold; please see the photo. Has a safety pin type closure, which is very common on these vintage micro mosaic pins from Italy. Some online vintage jewelry sites state that the safety pin type closure on this pin dates it from the 1920s, but I can't verify that age. I do know that it dates from at least the 1960s.
