You can get those sometimes where the liquid has evaporated throughout the years. I even have a few empty ones. Some were just made with a colored ball versus liquid filled. I also have some with glass ribbons that are from Germany and considered kaleidoscopes but the glass ribbons/threads reflect instead of a ball.
