Description: I purchased this vintage black homburg three years ago here on eBay for $170 (plus shipping). I am asking $150. I have to admit I have not worn it very often, and it has since been replaced by a bespoke hat as my formal hat. So it's time to return this vintage homburg back to the hat world. The hat was originally sold by the Vienna Hat Company in Washington, D.C. I have not been able to discover very much about the shop, except its location. Based on a similar homburg sold by the company I found on the web, I'm guessing that it dates to the 50s. But I honestly do not know. Nor do I know whether VHC made the hat or contracted with a production firm to sell it under its own name. What I do know is that the homburg is in very good condition considering its age, as the photographs reveal. No moth bites or stains. It has one exterior defect: if you look at the rear curl, you'll see that in the center it seems to be pinched up a tiny bit. When you look inside the hat, the leather sweat band is showing its age. The plastic crown protector has also fogged up. Lettering is barely visible through it. I imagine that if it were removed, one would learn more about the hat, but I wasn't about to do that.
