Description: Massive, this is one of the biggest live edge looking bowls. freehand design - RARE - MASSIVE- Estate pipe, listed as used because it was pre-owned but the bowl was never used. Not Stamped, but comes directly from the J.C. Cortegiano heirs estate. (PHOTOS DO THIS NO JUSTICE). I call this live edge, not sure what its proper name is. May have some scuffs, the stem mouthpiece looks worn, and several flaws cracks. Still, the bowl is super impressive. Comes directly out of a well known pipe makers estate, who also repaired other pipes. This one is a rarity, and perfect for display or collectors of JC pipes. Again, not marked but comes from his workshop and is not perfect. This is sold as is, repair or parts etc. The stem does not fit very tight into the bowl, so you would have to hold the bowl if you're going to smoke this. Great as rustic tree art. From pipedia - Joseph (Joe) Cortegiano was a highly renowned Pipemaker in New York City, widely famed for the precision and care of his work. He was particularly known for his big freehands, which enjoyed large demand and were reported to be selling as easy as ice cream on a hot day. If we say big, we should think big: one has to imagine pipes a la Ser Jacopo maxima maxima maxima. Or even bigger. Cortegiano pipes were stored in the most famous pipe shops of NYC like E. Wilke on Madison Avenue. He worked also for Barclay Rex. Sold as is not perfect
