Description: Vintage Carved Itzamna Balinese Cultural Wood Carving God of Wisdom The figure is carved from a single piece of wood only on one side The facial features: large hooked nose, open mouth, jutting chin, folded slit eyes. The figure's arm is slightly raised and is holding an object in his fingers. The figure is sitting cross-legged. There appears to be a string of large beads that hangs from the headdress to the side of the neck and is seen under the arm. The headdress appears to be that of snakes. Decorative wall hanging is of the Pakistani/Balinese culture.. Balinese culture is very rich in symbols. There are many non-representational symbols - the discus, the circle with eight radii which is seen in the figures fingers and the snake. A group of snakes are collectively known as the Awan, a tribe who is also related to the Pakistani culture
