Description: I have included information on dimensions down at the bottom of this description..... Honest Disclosure : I bought this " Football Urn " lamp from an ebay seller who listed it as ' shattered and in need of restoration ". He thought the only thing holding it together was the light assembly running thru it. He was right, when I removed the assembly, the vase part fell apart in 4 pieces. See photo #2. Good news was that all the breaks were clean, the pieces fit back together very well. Using Araldite epoxy, a very strong and slow setting epoxy used in ceramics conservation, I put the pieces back together and it went well. I used Milliput epoxy putty to close up the few gaps along the break lines and sanded that smooth. I re-painted the entire vase, approximating the original colors, to help reduce the visibility of the break lines. And I finished with 2 coats of Rustins cold glaze, to protect the paint. I think the restoration turned out better than could be expected, otherwise I would just keep it and enjoy the way it fits into my home environment. I have included many more pictures than usual, please take your time and closely examine them. I have included some photos that show what break lines are still visible. You could probably only notice them if you picked up the lamp in your hands and closely eamined it. From 2-3 feet away, I don't think you can. The photos of the bottom are interesting. First, there is a chip on the bottom rim that I elected to leave alone. You can't see it because the vase sits on a wooden base that covers the bottom edge. The hole for the electric assembly looks very crude to me; I will leave it to you to decide if this was made at the factory, or is a retro-fitted lamp. The red grease pen number 409 is the urn style, I believe; I can't make out the other writing.
