From a Book Review: This book delivers exactly what it says on the cover, an encyclopedia of the operational codenames used throughout the Second World War and then a description of what they were. The description can vary from a few lines to a lengthily overview of the operation.This encyclopedia contains the codenames for quite a few of the unknown or relevantly overshadowed operations and can be a pretty good source. However the encyclopedia is not complete; there are several Second World War operations that are not named, although one must admit I believe the omitted ones are not all combat operations and are mostly names given to the movement of troops. Additionally operations that were launched, but were planned under other codenames have the latter omitted from the book.Overall this is a good source of information however I feel that if you have access to a copy via a local library it is probably best to head there and use this book as and when you need it rather than something you buy and could read back to back like a campaign history or a book on a particular battle etc.
