WWI AEF US Army M1905 Bayonet - SA 1910 w/RIA 1911 Leather Covered Scabbard RARE

Description: pre-WWI US Army Model 1905 Bayonet Marked: SA w/Ordnance Bomb 1910 w/RIA 1907 Marked Modified Leather Covered Scabbard - M1903 Springfield Rifle - Excellent ConditionUp for sale is a pre-WWI US Army Model 1905 Bayonet. This bayonet is marked SA (Springfield Arsenal) w/ordnance bomb and Dated 1910 on one side, the other side is marked US 446654. The Blade still has the Original bright finish, with the thin 3/16" blue line at the base of the blade. No rust or pitting. There is no evidence of re-sharpening on the blade. The markings are crisp and easy to read. Walnut grips are in Very Nice Condition. Showing minor wear and normal handling marks. The scabbard is an Arsenal Modified M1906 Leather Covered Scabbard. The leather is soft and supple. The stitching is all intact, no fraying. A rivet is missing on the back of the scabbard. One of the two locking hooks on the throat of the scabbard is broken, see photo. The end tip of the scabbard is starting to separate at the seam, see photo. No rips or tears in the leather. The scabbard is marked: RIA 1911. This scabbard originally had a Krag style belt hook. The Krag hook was determined to be unusable with the new M1910 Web Gear. These early scabbards were send back to the Rock Island Arsenal to be modified by removing the Krag Belt hook and replacing it with the New M1910 belt hook. This is one such example of an early Arsenal Modified Scabbard. Both the bayonet and scabbard are used, see photo's for condition. It is very RARE to find an early leather covered scabbard without alot of damage and wear to the leather. This bayonet will fit the M1903/A3 Springfield Rifles and the M1 Garand Rifle.See M.H.
